Carer Support Information
INFORMATION AND SUPPORT FOR CARERS
Carers support service at your GP surgery
WHO IS A CARER?
If you are helping someone who is elderly, or someone who is ill, disabled or has special needs, whatever their age, then you are a carer.
You may be helping a relative, friend or neighbour. That help may be just a few hours or a significant part of the day, but without help that person could not manage alone.
WHAT DO CARERS HAVE TO COPE WITH?
Caring for someone can be stressful and tiring, it may also lead to feelings of isolation.
Being a carer can be rewarding but demanding. Practical issues such as safety, finances, and benefits, and uncertainty about available services may cause you anxiety and concern.
WHO CAN YOU TALK TO AT THE SURGERY?
The carers support worker is available for you to discuss your own needs; someone to talk to who will listen and understand.
We aim to provide a link so that you know where to go to find adequate support, benefits and services that you may be entitled to.
Caring for yourself means that you can care more efficiently.
To see your carers support worker, please leave a message at reception.
You will be contacted as soon as possible.
