Making an Appointment – Select Telephone Option 1

doctor_examining_childThe Practice schedules appointments “on the day”. This system reduces the period patients have to wait to see a doctor. It also reduces the number of appointments wasted due to patients not turning up for a pre-arranged appointment.

Consultations are by appointment only and can be made by telephone or in person during surgery opening hours. An appointment will be made for you to attend the surgery. You can expect to see a GP within two working days. You also have the option to book up to 2 weeks in advance. In general, appointments are available during that period.

Prompt access to a doctor is only possible when appointments are allocated to the earliest available doctor. If you have a preference to see a specific doctor our appointments staff will make every effort to meet your wishes. However such requests may, unfortunately, result in patients having to wait for an appointment and/or visit our alternative surgery.

However, you may wish for a doctor to telephone you. If so, an appropriate appointment will be arranged. Please ask a member of our appointments team when you call. We would ask you to remember a telephone appointment is subject to the same conditions as a “face to face” appointment.

The practice operates a daily Triage service. We provide the services of a health professional to ensure patient needs are addressed as and when required without necessarily waiting to see a doctor or nurse.

Of course, if the health professional and patient agree the need for a doctor consultation, the appropriate arrangements are made for the patient to see and/or have contact with a doctor the same day.

Urgent appointments

Please do not ask for an urgent appointment unless it is really necessary. Patients with urgent needs are usually telephoned by the Triage health professional in the first instance.

Unable to Attend

If for any reason you are unable to attend please cancel your appointment so that it can be made available to others. Please select Option 2 after calling the surgery number.

Disabled Access to the Surgery

Wheelchair and disabled access together with appropriate toilet facilities and a lift are available at the surgery.
